Concert Pianist Gregory DiBona
Gregory DiBona is a pianist who has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The White House, Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City and Longwood Gardens. He earned his Master of Music Degree from Manhattan School of Music and his Bachelor of Music Degree from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in piano performance. While matriculating in his undergraduate program, Gregory was the recipient of the Alta M. Ketner and Michael Morochko Scholarship. Mr. DiBona was selected to perform on Vladimir Horowitz’s Piano at Jacobs Music in Philadelphia for the celebration of a concert Horowitz had given at the Champs-Elysée in France. The next year, Gregory was invited to perform in Jacobs Music’s 160th anniversary recital.
After moving to New York City to continue with his graduate studies, Gregory auditioned and was selected to perform in a master class with Van Cliburn winner, Olga Kern. He was also accepted to the Duxbury Music Festival in Duxbury, Massachusetts where he won first prize in the Chamber Music Competition. Gregory had the opportunity to perform in a master class for international concert pianist, Oxana Yablonskaya during the festival.
Mr. DiBona has been invited to perform at multiple universities. Recently, he was a guest artist at Boise State University where he premiered a song cycle for composer, Dr. Eric Scott Alexander. Gregory has given numerous recitals of contemporary pieces for contralto and piano from composers throughout North America. This recital known as “Hot Off the Press,” began with over one hundred sixty submissions from composers living in all different corners of the world. Multiple song cycles and arias have been premiered by Mr. DiBona and Samantha Stiner, contralto, that has now toured The United States. Gregory has had the privilege of appearing on a live stream network called RVNTV. The program, V for Variety, highlighted Mr. DiBona and Samantha Stiner’s work of promoting and performing contemporary music by living composers. During the broadcast, a live performance was showcased from the song cycle, Seasons, that was composed for the duo.
Gregory has continued with professional collaborative work when he performed in a choral workshop with renowned choral composer, Ola Gjeilo, former King Singer, Paul Phoenix, and award winning composer Rollo Dilworth. Choral accompanying has lead Gregory to performances in Historic Boon Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, St. Matthew’s Church in Charleston, South Carolina, Old Pine Church, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Temple University, and Westminster Choir College.
Mr. DiBona owns his own private piano studio in New Jersey and teaches students in the South Jersey and Philadelphia area. Each year, various performance opportunities are given to the studio. His students have won first prizes in multiple competitions and have performed at both Carnegie Hall and the Academy of Music. Gregory was recently appointed Chairman of the New Jersey Federation of Music Clubs and will serve for the South Jersey region.
